We are pleased to welcome Simon Needham, from Shirwell in North Devon, as our new ART WORKS Editor.
Simon was taught to ring at his local parish church in Shirwell, and has been ringing for approximately 4 years. His journey started one Sunday morning when he said to two of his daughters 'That looks interesting! I wonder how you do it?'; only for the Tower Captain to approach and say 'Would you like to learn to ring?' Since then he has been ringing regularly at the local church as well as being involved in a local ringing society. This year Simon was elected Chair of the N/NW branch of the Devonshire Guild of Bell Ringers and is attempting to learn Stedman. He also recently started teaching two locals to ring following the ART Module 1 course in October 2018.
When not ringing Simon lives outside of the village on a small holding with his wife and three daughters,1 cockatiel, 2 cats, 3 horses, 5 dogs, 30 sheep and 50 chickens! When not spending time with the family, he edits the local village magazine and designs websites/software for local business. For relaxation he works at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton as a Project Manager with responsibilities for implementing digital solutions.
We would like to wish Simon all the very best in his new role.
