New Safeguarding Training Scheme

It is appropriate that ART encourages good practice and that includes members receiving basic safeguarding training to recognise potential issues.

Training is now available via the Church of England who have developed a series of courses and will require all volunteers connected with the church to complete an appropriate level of training. Course C0 is the most basic and may be completed online. All ART Members should complete this course and those in a leadership role or teaching children or vulnerable adults may be required by churches to attend a C1 course.

» Register on the CofE Safeguarding Training Portal to complete the C0 course

As the costs of Educare training have increased ART no longer subscribes to that scheme but recommends use of the Church of England schemes.

The programme takes the form of online reading followed by quizzes to test understanding. It is very simple. Certificates are produced on completion. The programme itself is generic so some examples may refer to circumstance ringers are unlikely to encounter, but ringers supervising youngsters do have to recognise and consider abuse at home or elsewhere and be able to recognise it or know what to do if a child talks about it.
