We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Association of Ringing Teachers (ART) Administrator. From an excellent pool of applicants, the ART Management Committee has selected Rose Nightingale from Cheddington, Bucks to take up the post from 1 January 2015.
Our previous administrator, Angela Roskelly, has ably filled this role for the last two years, and we would like to thank her for her immense contribution to the success of ART during a period that has seen very significant growth in the organisation. Whilst Angela has enjoyed being ART Administrator, she is looking to begin a new business venture and has unfortunately decided now is the time to move on. We wish her well in all of her future endeavours.
Rose is a Full Member of the Association of Ringing Teachers, having completed both Module 1 – Teaching Bell Handling and Module 2 – Teaching Elementary Change Ringing. She has an excellent understanding of the ART Teacher Training Scheme as well as the Learning the Ropes scheme for ringers, which she continues to use with the successful new band at Marsworth, Buckinghamshire. Rose really impressed the interview panel with her enthusiasm and direct experience of successfully using the scheme.
The administrative workload involved in delivering ART and Learning the Ropes across the UK and abroad is very large. The number of Day Courses run each year continues to grow, and over 1,000 new ringers have been registered for Learning the Ropes with nearly 600 awarded certificates after completing one or more Levels.
The ART Administrator works alongside the ART Management Committee and a number of dedicated volunteers to provide the level of infrastructure support provided. Our volunteers are vital to maintain the work of the organisation and we are hugely grateful to everyone involved.
The ART Administrator post was originally funded by a grant from the Ringing Foundation. This is secured until the end of 2015, however ART need to raise significant funds to support the position and the work of the organisation. The ART Supporters Scheme, launched at the Ringing Roadshow in Newbury, provides a framework and numerous benefits for those supportive of our work to contribute at all levels.
From 1 January 2015, Rose will be the main point of contact for all inquiries regarding ART and Learning the Ropes. We are very pleased to welcome Rose to the Association of Ringing Teachers, and look forward to continuing to support the excellent work of ART Teachers and Learning the Ropes Ringers everywhere.
