Following this guidance is not compulsory. You are free to take other action. But if you do follow the guidance you will normally be doing enough to comply with the law. ART Members are expected to follow this guidance. Relevant enforcing authorities will seek to secure compliance with the law and may refer to this guidance.
Code of Practice
ART Members shall organise training and events in a way to best ensure opportunities for injury or abuse are minimised.
Liaise with parish churches and/or other organisations to ensure they adhere to local safeguarding policies and procedures.
Risk Assessment in place.
Ensure that adequate and appropriate supervision is provided at training and other events (e.g. tours, camps) involving vulnerable groups following best practice guidelines at all times.
Ensure that all under-18s have provided a parental consent form before they join a group or activity. This includes home address, telephone number and name of parents/carers.
Keep an attendance register of trainees for each training session.
Where more than 10 children are involved a trained ART Teacher will be nominated as Safeguarding Officer.
