On Saturday 13th May, 11 students and course tutor, David Sparling, met up at Meopham to take part in ART’s M1 course with the aim of learning either how to teach ringing or improve how to teach ringing. Towers from all over Kent were represented. From Beckenham in the west to Dover in the East. There was a wide variety of experience from people who had only been ringing a couple of years or had taught no one before to experienced ringers who were wanting to pick up extra tips and ideas.
The day consisted of a mixture of theory and practical sessions. Interesting PowerPoint presentations took place in the church and we then moved upstairs for practical training on tied bells. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day and learnt something from it. If there’s demand then it is certainly something that we could run again in Kent.
Thanks go to David for running the course and to the Meopham tower and ringers for the use of their bells.
